Heres work that pupils were producing at the school i visited. The work is ranging from year 7's to year 13's work. The school was rather modern in allowing pupils to think for themselves and produce work they want to, rather then the teachers. Especially year 13's, which a lot of them produced some fantastic architectural work. I think this way of teaching is important rather then having a teacher show a pupil how to do something and they simply copy. This allows the children to be more creative, get more hands on and have more fun.

My placement made me realise that Graphic Design is only one part of product design. There are a lot of elements to product design which we don't cover on my degree.
Therefore i want to cover what i don't know in my third year. My audience throughout my 3rd year will be product design students ageing from 11 to 18. The self written briefs will be research driven to the aspects i dont know.
However i do want to design as i said in my ppd presentation in a very photo dominant way. I would also like to produce publications, posters and try develop my digital skills. Therefore although the research will be about product design my work will be graphic designed.
Above are sketches of possible photography that is humerous. Its loosely linked to wood work and such which goes on in a technology classroom. I'm doing this just for a bit of light hearted fun which is how i want some of my work to be in the 3rd year.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Although work placement was only 3 days its been incredibly useful in helping me gain an understanding of how it is to be a teacher in the technology department.
First thing i came to realise is the amount of work pupils don't see teachers doing, preparation and planning is essential.
Being a technology teacher requires a range of knowledge and skills rather then narrowing down to specialisation in a subject.
Product design is much broader then simply Graphic Design and i've come to realise that if i'm to be a good teacher i'll have to learn more skills and knowledge in many things, especially materials, there uses, and functions.
From just 3 days of placement i've managed to secure a 3 week paid work placement for June 2011 which is brilliant. I've been offered the experience i simply need to organise myself and take it. Along side this i want to get my experience at Guiesly grammar and possibly Benton Park school.
